Dear Holy Trinity Family, I thought that as long as "New Hats" were being talked about, I would through my "Hat" into the ring. As you know, Joyce Petrich was our Director of Finance and Facilities, with her resignation that leaves quite a few tasks undone. Not to worry — I'm here to introduce myself as the new Facilities Manager. I'm not sure what my current title is anymore. When I first started working here my title was Membership and Communications Secretary, or really parish secretary. Then I became Assistant to the Rector for Parish Administration. Basically I was doing the same job, with a few new duties. Now I'm parish secretary, web master, still Fr. Mark's secretary and maintain the facilities and oversee sextons. Apparently I have great faith in myself because I really think I can do it all. The reality is I have great faith in God. When I was 30 years old I asked God for a gift or talent. I took voice lessons and I sing reasonably well now. Well, here I am 20 years later at age 50 and I'm asking God for the gift of "Administration". I have a knack for organizing and I think that gift will grow further to accomplish my work. I have no doubt that with the grace of God I can "do all things through Christ which strengthens me". I am excited about the challenges and with your prayers I will always be able to fulfill my duties. You might be wondering who is taking care of the financial side of the business. Sara Fritz, who was our part-time bookkeeper has graciously accepted to fulfill the position of Finance Manager. You probably know Sara because she goes to the 10:00am Eucharist. She's a real go-getter. I have been here at Holy Trinity for eleven years now and I have always considered it my spiritual "home away from home". Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your faith community. In Christ, Cindy Wimberly

WOMEN'S RETREAT September 28-30, 2007 Bishop Quarterman Conference Center, Amarillo, Texas The Reverend Susan Sims-Smith from the Diocese of Arkansas will join us to lead a weekend retreat for women. Her ministry is called SeedWork. SeedWork was created to enliven the faith of those within the church, to reach out to those who are unchurched, and to restore relationships with those who have felt hurt by the church. It is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas. Before becoming ordained as an Episcopal priest, The Rev. Sims-Smith worked for 25 years as a psychotherapist. She has taught extensively on dreams, committed relationships, and prayer and meditation. This workshop examines how dreams communicate the needs of the soul as participants prayerfully seek God's guidance to live their lives. The rich spiritual discipline of understanding dreams and seeking to live in harmony with the messages they bring can enrich lives with comfort, challenge, and practical solutions to problems of daily life. For more information about her work please go to: http://www.seedwork.org/index.html Registration information: Paula Howbert , 432-697-6536, pfhowbert@prodigy.net

Rays of Hope Children's Grief Centre 900 W. Wall St. Our goal at Rays of Hope is to provide a safe, neutral place for children to do the work of grief. Through facilitated peer support groups, we encourage children to use the creative arts as tools of expression. Placed with children of similar ages and circumstances, participants begin to realize they are not alone. With an adult facilitating the discussion, children share and acquire coping skills while working through the tough issues that accompany grief. Classes are 3-5 weeks long, beginning monthly and meet weekly. School age children 5-18 are welcome. There is no charge for enrollment. For more information, call 684-5437.
Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things with blazing serene hope. — Corazon Aquino, former president of the Philippines and Asia's first female president.
