ThePrayer of St. Francis de Sales Be at Peace. Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life; rather look to them with full hope as they arise. God, whose very own you are, will deliver you from out of them. He has kept you hitherto, and He will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it, God will bury you in his arms. Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and everyday. He will either shield you from suffering, or will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination. - St. Francis de Sales 1567-1622 This prayer was first given to me by my sweet Daddy who has not been with us now for almost 3 years. His place was here in this beautiful church. Most likely he gave it to me during a calm time in my life; just wanted me to have it. He has no idea what comfort it gave me during the time that he was dying and soon after his death. He knows now, however, the comfort it gives me today. My faith journey has moved me on from this place and on to another, but the Lord is with me wherever I go and He is with you as well. So, if you feel that you are in a desert, remember that all things are for a reason – even times such as these. Another phrase my dad used often and now my sweet mother as well is THIS TOO SHALL PASS. That’s comforting, isn’t it? We are ALL on a journey, maybe we don’t know yet where the journey ends or begins for that matter, but we are children of God. So, cut this prayer out if you don’t already have it, put it in the place where you will see it most often, because, "He will either shield you from suffering, or give you unfailing strength to bear it." In Peace, Emily Klemme

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING Who We Are The Daughters of the King is a lay order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, or churches in communion with it, or churches that are in the Historic Episcopate. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ’s Kingdom and the strengthening in the spiritual life of her parish. The Motto of the Order For His Sake… I am but one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do? Holy Trinity is blessed to have a membership that includes (in order of their admission): Marilyn Allen, Marilyn Hanson, Anne Herbig, Tina Ice, Paula Howbert, Lucia Gray, Sue Reid, Pat Powers, Mary Collier, Ann Curtis, Jenness Gilles, Betty Jons, Laura Scott, Carol Armstrong, Gretchen Bakke, Doris Cannaday. You may have noticed the cross worn only by Daughters. When it is presented to a Daughter, she must make the decision on whether it will be buried with her or returned to the National Order. The next time you see a Daughter, ask to look at her cross and its emblem inscribed in Latin, MAGNANIMITER CRUCEM SUSTINE, meaning, "With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear the cross." At the base of the cross are the letters FHS, "For His Sake." On Sunday, October 21, the Holy Trinity Chapter of the Daughters of the King will recommit themselves to their Rule of Life. This year’s officers will also be installed. Remember that the Daughters pray each day for each member of this church family, its clergy, staff and leadership. It is our greatest privilege!
