MINUTES

Vestry Regular Meeting

Thursday, October 18, 2007

 

Members Present: Father Mark Cannaday, Carol Armstrong, Junior Warden; Anne Hover, clerk; Lucia Gray, Marilyn Allen, Terry Staub. Members unable to Attend: none 

Father Mark called the meeting to order at 5:30.  

The vestry shared with each other their personal updates.  

Father Mark presented the Bible reading from The Gospel of Luke.   

The minutes of the September meeting were approved as printed.  

Angela Stephens, Treasurer presented the financials, see attached. Marilyn Allen requested an information session for the incoming vestry members to learn how to read and understand the balance sheets. 

Sara is in the process of re-categorizing the accounts for the balance sheet. She will list the apportionment as a line item. 

Rector Report:

bulletStewardship was discussed. Jim Newman is the chairman this year.
bulletJim Hamilton has agreed to serve on the Finance/ Fiscal Affairs Committee.
bulletFather Mark is concerned about the ability to operate the church for 2008. He would like a commitment from the vestry to operate without reservation.
bulletThe apportionment  problem was discussed. Anne Hover moved to send 15,000 as a good faith payment towards our 2007 apportionment to the Diocese. The motion was seconded. A discussion followed. The motion passed.
bulletMarilyn Allen moved to elect Connie Godlesvski, Mark Wheeler and Don Olive to fill vacancies on the Vestry each for a 1 year term; and Deborah Chester, Russ Robken, and Sam Stephens to fill vacancies on the Vestry each for a 2 year term. The motion was seconded and passed.
bulletAnne Hover moved to elect Mike Cunningham as Chancellor. The motion was seconded and passed.
bulletFather Mark reported that the Carillon was struck by lightning. Our insurance will pay for repairs with $1000.00 deductible.
bulletFather Mark reported that Holy Trinity has lost many families, but that new families are joining as well. A discussion followed.
bulletThe Visioning workshop will take place on October 19 and 20. Everyone was urged to participate.
bulletMarilyn Allen announced that the Deanery Meeting will take place in the Parish Hall on Saturday, October 20.

Carol Armstrong, Jr. Warden:

bulletReported that Guy Richards is doing our landscaping and everything looks great!
bulletShe asked to review the Children’s Day Out Program’s financials. 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:10PM.
