Do you see what I see? Perspective … a way of regarding situations or topics. Life experience often determines our perspective on situations around us. I’ve had a huge lesson in perspective lately from a couple different areas of my life. Do you see what I see? The Strategic Planning Committee met April 5, there were about 20 of us … there’s roughly 800 on HT’s membership list. Do you hear what I hear? It was perceived the Teams from that meeting didn’t understand the next move in order to make progress on our plan. Do you feel what I feel? In whose time is this plan supposed to be accomplished, ours or His? I’m feeling pushed. The most difficult thing to do in any stressful situation is to be patient. It is so tempting to have a situation arise and want to fix it immediately, whether it’s possible or not. We think if we keep ourselves completely occupied with resolving the situation it will be done in no time. John 15:1-17, gives the analogy of the Vine and the Branches. We are shown God is the vine, the root of the plant, strong and mighty. We are the branches, the couriers of the nutrients, through which the fruit is fed. T he grapes are the fruits we produce by carrying the nutrients from the root through us and feeding them. WOW!! I’ve been told it takes seven years for a new grape vine to bear fruit … seven years of the root constantly feeding the branches to create a steady flow of nutrients to produce the eventual fruit. Seven years. In that time, the root gives the nutrients to the branches, who in turn gives it to the buds that eventually turn into the fruit of the vine. The key words are give … give. Are we giving? Are we thankful for having two wonderful priests that were willing to step in and feed us with the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, or are we upset that they can’t perform all the Eucharistic services we want? Are we willing to give, through compromise with each other, to make it easier on those priests? Do we see what we have and thank our God, or do we see what we are missing and criticize each other … or worse yet, abandon this ship for another? We have a Strategic Plan for our church that is designed to last three to five years … we are in our third 90-Day Implementation of that Strategic Plan … it has been 182 days since we started this process. I see, hear and feel the apprehension around HT and the question of: what are we going to do? Are we really ready to bear fruit? We can’t fix overnight what took years to break. We can’t control what is beyond our reach. And we can’t make things better without EVERYONES involvement. Each member of Holy Trinity is a branch on God’s grape vine. It takes all of us to produce an abundant and healthy crop of fruit … and it takes time for these branches to bear that fruit. The good news is there are 1,643 days left in our Strategic Plan for YOU to get involved!! When I say we NEED you, I’m not exaggerating. If our vine is going to live a life worthy of our Lord to call us His fruit, we are going to have to get involved in the caring and nurturing of it within the vineyard. It cannot be left up to a few to carry the load. Your opportunity is here … join us May 20, 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the Parish Hall to hear updates on this 90-Day Implementation to rebuild the Council System at HT. There is a place for YOU to be involved in YOUR church. Deborah Chester

BISHOP NOMINATION UPDATE April 17, 2008 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: Yesterday, at our April meeting of the Standing Committee, we received a report from the Nominating Committee stating that they had been unsuccessful in securing the requisite minimum of three (3) nominees as required by the Canons of the diocese of Northwest Texas and the charge of the Standing Committee. In response, the Standing Committee reaffirmed its confidence in the Nominating Committee and renewed its charge to that committee. In practical terms, that means that the Nominating Committee will have to request additional names from the Church while hopefully retaining the names of the two Nominees who have agreed to be presented. That process involves a number of steps. It is likely that we will be able to elect a bishop sometime in late summer or early Autumn, but it’s impossible to say more than that. This diocese faces some important challenges in the area of redefining our Mission, stabilizing our finances and reconciling our people to each other. I am confident that God will raise up the Bishop we need and empower that bishop with the clear eye of the Holy Spirit and the strong back of the Apostle to lead us where God would have us go. Clifton Mann Standing Committee President
