MINUTES

Vestry Regular Meeting

Thursday, May 17, 2007

 

Members Present: Father Mark Cannaday, Father Andy Powell, Bill Granberry, Sr. Warden; Anne Hover, clerk; Lea Crump, Carol Armstrong, Julie Harvey, Lucia Gray, Marilyn Allen, Bill Holmes.

Members unable to Attend: Bill Wallace, Terry Staub, Rick Menchaca, Chip Smith.

Father Mark called the meeting to order at 6:00.

The vestry shared with each other their personal updates.

Marilyn Allen presented the Bible reading.

Father Mark asked that the agenda be amended to add a presentation by parishioners Neil Allen and Nick Taylor. It was the consensus of the vestry to allow a 15 minute presentation. Cindy Olive’s report was changed to an announcement.

The minutes of the April meeting were approved as printed.

Bill Granberry presented the Treasurers report for Kim Henderson. See attached.

Father Mark announced that

Nancy’s Place will have an Open House for the opening of the Clay Studio on Sunday, May 20 from 2:00-4:00.

Carol Evans has agreed to continue our Musikgarten Program here at Holy Trinity.

Easter College received the donation we gave and passed around a certificate and a letter that they sent to Holy Trinity.

Bishop Duncan has written a letter to Network members (see attached).It was suggested that we include it in the next parish newsletter.

Neil Allen and Nick Taylor presented a report pertaining to the property laws of Texas. A discussion followed. It was the consensus of the vestry to form a subcommittee to hear more information at a later date and report back to the vestry.

Bill Granberry, Senior Warden encouraged the vestrymen to become liaisons to the Councils. The assignments are as follows:

Liturgy and Worship Terry Staub

Nurture and Ed. Bill Granberry, Rick Menchaca, Lucia Gray

Pastoral Chip Smith, Bill Wallace, Carol Armstrong

Mission and Outreach Marilyn Allen

Membership and Community Anne Hover and Julie Harvey

Carol Armstrong, Junior Warden gave a fire / security system update. She is expecting bids soon. The playground should be finished by June 8.

Bill Granberry informed the vestry that Caprock has been sent a demand letter to return our deposit. They responded affirmatively less the cost of the plans and a restocking fee. A check should be received within 30 days.

Bill Granberry reported for Bill Wallace on Holy Trinity’s Insurance. We will have specific bids on new recommendations pertaining to our deductible and obtaining a multi-million dollar umbrella at the June Vestry Meeting.

Marilyn Allen reported on the music program and its needs.

Discussion followed on ways to inform the parishioners of the vestry’s work toward a way forward. Lucia and Julie will put an article in the newsletter.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00PM.
