MINUTES

Vestry Regular Meeting

Thursday, March 15, 2007 

Members Present: Father Mark Cannaday, Father Andy Powell, Bill Granberry, Sr. Warden; John Holmes, Jr. Warden; Anne Hover, clerk; Bill Wallace, Lea Crump, Terry Staub, Carol Armstrong, Julie Harvey. 

Members unable to Attend: Rick Menchaca, Chip Smith, Marilyn Allen, Bill Holmes. 

Father Mark called the meeting to order at 5:30pm with a prayer.  

Father Mark asked to amend the agenda and have our guest, Fr. Malcolm speak first about Easter College. See attached handout. Father Malcolm was excused and there was a discussion. Lea Crump moved to provide $4600.00 to Easter College for scholarships and a new sound system. The motion was seconded and passed.  

The vestry shared with each other their personal updates.  

Father Andy presented the Bible reading for today, Luke 11:14-23.   

Bill Granberry presented the Treasurers report for Kim Henderson. See attached. A discussion ensued pertaining to the need for an  a written investment and fiscal policy under the Fiscal Affairs Committee.   

Father Mark gave the Rectors report. It was noted that on January 28 John Holmes was elected Junior Warden and that the January minutes failed to reflect this.  

Father Mark reported that March 31 there will be a Vestry Visioning Retreat preceded by dinner on Friday, March 30 at Bill Granberry’s house.  

Bill Granberry, Sr. Warden, reported information from a letter written by the Archbishop Rowan Williams about the Tanzania Meeting. He also discussed the March 4th Informational Meeting held in the Parish Hall. A discussion followed concerning healing and unity of the parishioners of Holy Trinity.  The Vestry appointed Lea Crump and Julie Harvey to form a committee with the charge to brainstorm ideas for healing and unity for Holy Trinity. It was recommended that they ask parishioners from both sides of the issue to serve on this committee.  

Bill Granberry reported on:

·         the need for term limits for Council Chairman

·         Vestry Liaison appointments

·         the need to appoint a Fiscal Affairs Chairman by the April Meeting.  

John Holmes, Jr. Warden reported on  

bulletThe alarm system- Clark Lea, Chancellor will send a letter to Caprock Alarm with regards to this.
bulletJohn Holmes moved to exterminate the termites at Nancy’s Place at the cost of $2350.00 for the first year and $282.00 per year thereafter. The motion was seconded and passed.
bulletThe sound system  was discussed. It was suggested that we purchase 4 head microphones.
bulletJohn Holmes, Jr. Warden, regretfully presented the Vestry with a letter of resignation effective March 16th. (see attached)

Anne Hover reported on a Bible curriculum called “The Bible In 90 Days”. She recommended this as a church-wide study. Anne will ask Deborah Chester, Education Chairman to review the material. 

Father Andy, Assistant Rector reported on

Father Mark asked for a meeting review.
