"This Fight ain't got no rear."

While in my daily devotional the Lord led me to the following writing. The title, "This fight ain't got no rear" drew me in immediately. And as I read past the title and got into the depth of the story, I was reminded of just how powerful we are in Jesus. Let's remember as a church family that with God all is possible and even the biggest Goliath can be slain.

"This Fight ain't got no rear."

Ephesians 6:10 ~ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the power of his might.

Historian Shelby Foote tells of a soldier who was wounded at the battle of Shiloh during the American Civil War and was ordered to go to the rear. The fighting was fierce and within minutes he returned to his commanding officer. "Captain, give me a gun!" he shouted. "This fight ain't got any rear!"

In Ephesians, Paul describes the armor that we should put on daily. Have you ever noticed that every part of the body is covered except for one? The back! The Lord didn't want us to run away and turn our back toward our enemy — it would leave us vulnerable, with no armor to protect us against his attack! And just as a dog would when he senses fear, if we run from the enemy, he will relentlessly chase us until we are broken. But if we take courage and stand strong in the power of God's might, the battle will be the Lord's... and He has already won the victory!

The battle is raging! It's time to take up our armor and face the enemy head-on! There's no turning back. We're in this together! There' so much work to be done!!!

In His Name,

Tyree Johnson, Choirmaster

Scripture in God's Plan of Salvation

The Word of God comes to us from the Church that Jesus established to continue the accomplishment of his work, proclaiming the revelation of God to the ends of the earth and bringing all men and women into new relationship with God. The written Word, along with the unwritten traditions handed on by Jesus to his apostles and their successors, form a single Word of God, a saving and life-giving word of truth to be handed on to all generations.

In his gracious goodness, God has seen to it that what he had revealed for the salvation of all nations would abide perpetually in its full integrity and be handed on to all generations.  The gospel was promised of old through the prophets in the Sacred Scriptures.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, first promulgated it from his own lips. He in turn ordered that it be preached by his Apostles to all creatures, as the fountain of all saving truth and moral discipline....This truth and discipline are contained in the written books, received by the Apostles from the mouth of Christ himself, or from the Apostles by the dictates of the Holy Spirit, have come down even unto us, transmitted as it were from hand to hand.

Hence there exists a close connection and communication between sacred tradition and Sacred Scripture. For both of them, flowing from the same divine wellspring, in a certain way merge into a unity and tend toward the same end. Sacred Scripture is the word of God inasmuch as it is consigned to writing under the inspiration of the divine Spirit, while sacred tradition takes the word of God entrusted by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit to the Apostles, and hands it on to their successors in its full purity, so that led by the light of the Spirit of truth, they may in proclaiming it preserve this word of God faithfully, explain it, and make it more widely known.

Sacred tradition and Sacred Scripture form one sacred deposit of the word of God, committed to the Church. Holding fast to this deposit the entire holy people united with their shepherds remain always steadfast in the teaching of the Apostles, in the common life, in the breaking of the bread and in prayers (Acts 2:42).

Mothers' Union Provides for the Needs of Refugees

The Mothers' Union of the Anglican Diocese of Gahini has provided clothing and other basic items to hundreds of Rwandan refugees who returned to the country recently from Tanzania.

The event, which was organized by more than 70 Mothers' Union members of
Gahini Diocese, was financed by Mary Sumner of the United Kingdom (UK).

Before visiting the refugees in Rugeyo Camp, the women held a two-day workshop on the rights of women and girls. According to Beatrice Gahamanyi, the Mothers' Union worker for Gahini Diocese, the women
resolved in the seminar to rescue the society from the problems that usually affect families. She said that much needed to be done to protect young girls, who are the future mothers.

After the workshop, the Mothers' Union members went to Kageyo Camp to
offer the refugees basic needs like soap and clothes. They assured the refugees that they would bring further help in a few weeks' time.

This occasion, at which hundreds of refugees received much-needed items, was graced by the Rt. Rev. Alexis Bilindabagabo, the Anglican Bishop of Gahini. He was accompanied by the local leaders of Rukara district in the Eastern Province of Rwanda.

In his opening remarks, Bishop Alexis commended the Mothers' Union members for their valuable contribution to social transformation in the church and community. He advised the refugees to hold on to God the Almighty for safety, and pledged to support them and help them move forward.

Note: The Tanzanian government recently expelled thousands of Rwandans
from Tanzania without giving a sound reason. These Rwandans were born in
Tanzania, and the majority had amassed wealth on the Tanzanian soil. According to the reports, their wealth was confiscated by the Tanzanians.
