An Enthusiastic Resolution I was reading a list of things to do in 2007; resolutions of sorts, thirty pages long in Men’s Health magazine with the usual tips of eat less, exercise more, get out of debt, learn a language, learn an instrument, perform better at work, etc. The work section had a small article on how an enthusiastic attitude will "make you the kind of person everyone wants to work with and you’ll always stand out from the stressed out and the burned out." The article said that researchers in Pennsylvania even found work performance quality was better by those in better moods and "bosses notice stuff like that". No, really?! Well, as I have been reading the lessons during the Epiphany season, I have noticed the encouragement to use my spiritual gifts, and that we are all a part of the body of Christ. The lessons are full of praise and talk about the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. Psalm 96 says, "Sing to the LORD and bless his Name; proclaim the good news of his salvation from day to day". The Gospel this Sunday says that as Jesus read the scripture it was possible to see that He was full of the Holy Spirit, and others believed because of it. All of the lessons are very relational and ask us to use our gifts to proclaim the good news of Christ to others. Our church family is full of wonderful people ready to spread the Gospel in many different ways. Some serve, some teach, some heal, some pray, and all are necessary. Many even seem to have a "face of grace". One example to me would be Laura Scott. Her faith just seems to exude from her and shine out. Her enthusiasm for the Lord, her "good mood", is an example to me of her hard work and commitment to God. I'm betting that those researchers in Pennsylvania are right, and The Boss will notice stuff like that! "Heavenly Father, Thank you for making me part of Your body. It is my desire to be an active part of Your church by serving, promoting unity, and sharing my faith enthusiastically with others. Give me opportunities to accomplish these things for Your glory! In Jesus' name I pray, amen."
Blessings to you this New Year, Dedee Boring Director of Children’s Ministries

Just Ask Me… Dear Miss Know It All, Dumb Founded Dear Dumb Founded, The Rector is the priest in charge of a self-supporting parish, like ours. Mark Cannaday would be our Rector. The tern rector is derived from the Latin for "rule". The rector has jurisdiction of the parish, subject to the rubrics of the Book of Common Prayer, the constitution and canons of the church, and the pastoral direction of the bishop. We sure have some funny words to describe things, don't we? Is it all in the wonder of being an Episcopalian. Miss Know It All

Then couples experience their own "great date" by actually going out on a date with their partner! During these purposeful dates, couples learn to communicate better, process anger and resolve conflicts, appreciate differences, encourage each other, develop spiritual intimacy, and balance busy lifestyles. Great Dates is appropriate for ALL ages and stages of marriage. Come and join in the fun!

WHAT IS SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE? It is the undeniable truth that human beings were created and sustained by God for a distinct purpose. The Bible introduces us to the first man and woman God created in Genesis 1:26-27 and stating that "man was created in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them". This is one of the backbones of Christian faith and understanding, that God created mankind with purpose and destiny. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is a national event that began in response to the erosion of the protection for the life of the pre-born child when a child’s right for protection became at risk when abortion was legalized in 1973. "Divine Consideration" is A Sanctity of Human Life music and video testimonial event of a collage of people who have been touched in special ways by "life issues; from miscarriage, aging parents, birth defect or abortion, times of indecision or perseverance, each person has been changed, healed and hope restored. "Divine Consideration"; a Sanctity of Human Life event, will be held at Midland Center on January 21, 2007 at 7 pm. Where there is darkness in our understanding, reflection on the light of Jesus Christ brings understanding, hope and healing. This is a free event, seating is limited. You may pick up free tickets at five locations: Chick Fil-A (Loop 250) The Life Center Manning’s Garden Center Quizno’s Subs on Midkiff and Andrews Hwy Mardel’s Bookstore
