Holy Trinity Episcopal Church MINUTES Vestry Regular Meeting Thursday, April 3, 2008 Present: Jody Gilles, Sr. Warden; Don Olive, Jr. Warden, Orman Hubbard, Deborah Chester, Jim Newman, Connie Godlevski, Marilyn Allen, Terry Jolliffe, Russ Robken, Sam Stephens and Mark Wheeler. Jody Gilles called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. Carol Armstrong led in prayer. The minutes were approved as written. Mark Wheeler gave an update on Liturgy and Worship: Father Malcolm Slayter needs to step away from the Men’s Breakfast on Wednesday morning. The group will continue to meet and will have Morning Prayer with Eucharist perhaps on a monthly cycle. Father Alan Whitman has offered to do an additional service on Sunday – either the 8:00 or the 5:15- after the Spring semester at Midland College is complete. Mark will talk with Father Whitman and with Father Slayter to work out the schedule. Supply priests are difficult to find. One name, Hubert Palmer has been suggested. Jody will contact him. Mark reported that he had received a lot of voiced support for Holy Trinity at the time of the Brent Blonkvist funeral. Lots of encouragement to keep the church moving forward. Jr. Choir will vest each Sunday and get experience. They will then sing on selected Sundays. Mark Wheeler going to get a proposal for wiring the Parish Hall to accommodate large funerals and weddings. Trustee Election: Jody explained that there are trustee vacancies. Need two non-vestry members and one more vestry member to serve. MOTION: To elect Mary Lou Cassidy and Will Green as trustees: Motion by Deborah Chester, seconded by Don Olive: Motion passed. MOTION: To elect Orman Hubbard as trustee. Motion by Jim Newman, seconded by Deborah Chester. Motion carried. Monthly newsletter: Connie has agreed to do a monthly newsletter. Need a name. Suggestion made to keep the name "Desert Scrolls" for the first issue and in that issue ask for names. It would be good to have a one page "calendar at a glance". Kid’s First: Vestry decided we need a little more information before making a decision. Mary Collier will be asked again about meeting times, overall needs now and what might be needed in the future. The organization will be asked to pay, if possible , to defray expenses and we will make only a 6 month commitment at this time. Don Olive will collect further information. Clifton Mann reports no progress on the search for a third candidate for bishop. Because of a scheduling conflict with Bishop Ohl, confirmation is rescheduled for May 14.
